Redefining agri-finance in Africa.

Prime Edge Growth builds socially-informed, season-sensitive credit models that finally make the smallholder farmer credit worthy — without changing who they are.

What we do

Three pillars holding up a new credit logic.

Social Scoring Model

A proprietary framework that measures creditworthiness through community signals, not collateral.

Season Sensitive Lending

Loan terms aligned to planting, growing, and harvest cycles, not arbitrary monthly schedules.

Inclusive Finance

Designed from the ground up for women, youth, and smallholder agri-SMEs historically locked out.

The problem

Smallholder farmers are systematically excluded from formal credit.

Traditional scoring assumes payslips, collateral, and monthly cycles. Smallholders have none of that, and yet they feed the continent. The result: capital sits idle while the people who grow our food are starved of it.

  • No formal credit history
  • No collateral assets
  • Income is seasonal, not monthly

Our approach

A model the village already understands.

We re-engineered the assessment from scratch. Social proof replaces collateral. Seasonal flows replace monthly installments. Explainable scores replace opaque algorithms, so lenders, regulators, and farmers all read the same story.

Explainable
Data-driven
Scalable
Human-centered
How it works

From field data to disbursed loan, in five steps.

01

Data Collection

Field officers capture social, agronomic, and behavioral data points.

02

Social Scoring

Our model converts community signals into a risk profile lenders trust.

03

Loan Assessment

Partner FIs receive ready to decision packages with explainable scores.

04

Disbursement

Capital flows to the farmer ahead of the season, at the right moment.

05

Season Aligned Repayment

Repayments fall after harvest, not against the rhythm of the land.

Who we serve

The people moving Africa's food economy.

Our work is built around four constituencies the formal system has failed — and through whom the next decade of inclusive growth will be written.

Pilot Spotlight

Homa Bay County

Our flagship pilot in western Kenya proves the model in real conditions. We partner with local SACCOs to score and lend to small scale farmers.

Read the case study
"Our farmers are mainly widows who face many challenges. We have been supporting them with seeds, but this alone is not enough to improve their lives in a lasting way. Through our partnership with Prime Edge, farmers who were previously unable to access loans through traditional systems are now able to get farm credit. This helps them invest in their farms, grow more cotton, and increase their income. While the screening process is thorough, it is designed with people in mind and gives farmers a fair chance."
Chairman, Kapasi Farmers’ Cooperative Society
"Prime Edge gave us the confidence to lend to farmers we'd previously turned away. The scoring is rigorous — but it sees them as people first."
Director, Partner SACCO
